Traffic to Your Website
Many newcomers to the internet marketing industry seem to be under
the impression that building a website is a "build it and they will
come" type scenario. As much as we all wish that this was the case,
anyone with a bit of experience in the industry will tell you the
exact opposite. A website is much like a business, in that it needs
to be marketed and promoted. Without marketing your site, you won"t
get any visitors, and without visitors, your website is more of a
money waster than anything else. Here are five easy ways to
increase the traffic to your website.
Article Marketing
The theory behind article marketing is simple “ write an article
that relates to your niche, submit it to as many article
directories as possible and people who read the article will
hopefully click through the resource link and land on your website.
The key to effective article marketing is writing high quality,
informative and enticing articles that will attract readership.
It's no use writing a boring article about something that everyone
already knows. Make sure that your articles provide value, and most
importantly, make sure that they gently lead readers to your
website.
SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is one of the most common traffic
generators. Every day, Google processes millions of search queries
รข€“ SEO allows you to get your website in front of those searchers.
When it comes to SEO, you have two options “ learn how to do it
yourself, or hire an expert. Either way, you need to remember that
SEO is a long term process, and whichever route you decide to go,
needs to be committed to for at least six months.
Pay Per Click
Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is the quick alternative to SEO,
and allows you to effectively "pay" your way to the top of the
search engines. Google Adwords is one of the most popular PPC
programs and is quick and (fairly) easy to use. If you have the
budget for it, give PPC a try. PPC also allows you to find out what
keywords work best for your site, and provides some very revealing
data about searchers.
Participate In Forums
Register with one or two popular forums in your niche, and
advertise your website in your signature. Never blatantly advertise
your site on the forums by making posts about it “ this will just
get you banned (unless the forum has a "classifieds" type section).
Provided that the forum has good membership and you participate
regularly, you're sure to gain some traffic from these communities.
Remember that you need to earn respect in these groups by
contributing positively towards them “ don't try to "fool the
system" “ it's just not worth it!
Provide Value
One of the best long term strategy of all is to simply provide good
value on your site. Whether it's in the form of free content,
advice or insight, the more value you provide to visitors, the more
visitors you will gain over time. Note that this is a long term
strategy, and will not increase your traffic overnight, but it will
definitely put you in good stead for the long run.
Committing yourself to ongoing marketing and promotion of your
website (or outsourcing the task altogether) is simply a fool proof
method. See your website as a small business that needs to be
nurtured and promoted “ devise a marketing plan and stick to it.
